We are preparing for a recall for safety reasons on a number of vehicles equipped with a specific type of high-voltage battery.

For  CUPRA Born vehicles with high-voltage batteries that were produced by a specific supplier between 2022 and 2025, there is a requirement to carry out checks to ensure that the components in the battery meet our high-quality standards.

When the battery is charged to over 80%, overheating may occur, posing a fire risk.

For safety reasons, the factory is temporarily limiting affected vehicles’ maximum available charging capacity to 80%. This process started w/c 12th October 2026.

Please note, it is good practice in all cases to activate Battery Care Mode, in which charging is restricted to 80%.  You can do this yourself via the app or the vehicle’s infotainment centre.

If your vehicle is affected by this recall, you will receive a letter from us in due course to advise you of next steps; these may include a visit to a CUPRA Retailer to allow us to inspect your vehicle.

How to limit charging to 80%?

  2. Select "Battery and Charge"
