What happens when you combine the best of road and racing technology into one machine? At CUPRA, we built the answer. By fusing the electric motor from the CUPRA Raval, the combustion engine from the Leon VZ, and the battery technology from the Leon PHEV, the CUPRA Leon VZ e-Hybrid Racer serves as a testbench for a new, more affordable path into electrified motorsport.

As the second pillar of CUPRA’s Festival of Speed, the CUPRA Leon VZ e-Hybrid Racer mixes the best of two worlds. We brought together the sustainability, electrified intensity, and tactical push-to-pass power of ETCR racing with the accessibility and proven technologies of traditional touring cars.

A Racing Car Engineered to Disrupt

Wearing the same “Energy Flow” livery as the CUPRA KIRO Gen4 Formula E challenger, the Leon VZ e-Hybrid Racer makes its position in CUPRA’s racing universe immediately clear. 

Built for a relentless battle of precision, performance and control, it expertly balances tyres, power and energy to deliver a combined output of 370 kW (500 PS). Shifting through a six-speed sequential gearbox, drivers can experience the dual force of the 250 kW combustion engine and the 120 kW rear electric motor. That dual power pushes the racer from a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 3.8 seconds, reaching a 265 km/h top speed. And this is exactly what the next chapter of touring car racing feels like to us.

Electrifying Emotion Unleashed at Goodwood

At West Sussex’s iconic Festival of Speed, we brought our electrified ecosystem to life. 

While the CUPRA Leon VZ e-Hybrid Racer took the spotlight as a pioneer for sustainable touring car racing, it shared the stage with the new CUPRA Raval — our urban-by-nature electric car.

On and off the track, we set out to prove that whether on city streets or the racetrack, electric performance never compromises emotion.
